Obituary for William Harry Kleindopf

William Harry Kleindopf, 68, of Hummelstown, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, October 27, 2020, in the Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Harrisburg, on December 25, 1951, he was the son of the late George H. and Martha I. Conrad Kleindopf.
Bill was a 1970 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School. He retired from being a supervisor at the Mechanicsburg Naval Base, and then was employed by Costco. Bill was a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran receiving four distinguished flying crosses, four air medals, the Vietnam Service Ribbon, and turned down a Silver Star for Heroism under fire. He flew 831 combat missions on an AC130 Gunship during his three years in Vietnam.
Bill was a man of many talents. He loved golfing and bowling. While golfing, he earned a 3 handicap for 24 years, had four holes in ones, and shot a 68 at Sunset Golf Course. Bill was also a brilliant artist who used pencils, pens and pastels to create works of art. He also meticulously pursued woodworking, making many pieces of furniture.
He is survived by two nieces, Kim Askews, wife of Richard of Hummelstown, and Stacy Heicher of Middletown; a niece, Kendra Askews; a nephew, Anthony Condran; a great niece, McKenna Condran; and an ex-nephew-in-law Robert Condran.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy A. Heicher.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Robert J. Kazinski, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. Friends are invited to call for a visitation in the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc., East Shore Shelter, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111; or to Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Hummelstown, Pa 17036.
