Obituary

Rolland Martin “Bud” McWhinney, Jr., 79, of Hummelstown, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at his home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Lower Paxton Township on December 30, 1940, he was the son of the late Rolland Martin, Sr., and Martha Imes McWhinney.

Bud retired from the Engle Printing & Publishing Company, and had worked for the former Telegraph Press. He was a graduate of Central Dauphin High School. Bud was an U.S. Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. A man of strong faith, he was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hummelstown. Bud was also a member of the American Legion Post 272, Linglestown; and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed camping in his camper at Pine Creek, hunting, and car races.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen E. Patterson McWhinney, on November 23, 2012; a son, Daniel Shelley; and a sister and brother-in-law, Martha Jane and William Wagner.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen A. Miller widow of Dennis of Harrisburg, and Lisa S. Harman wife of John of Palmyra; a son, Timothy C. Seibert husband of Karen of Yucaipa, CA; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Kling widow of Larry of Palmyra, and Mary Dougherty wife of Mike of Annville; 2 nephews and 4 nieces.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with Chaplain Audrey J. Finkbiner of Hospice of Central Pennsylvania officiating.

Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Penn State Health Children’s Cancer Institute, Office of University Development and Alumni Relations, Mail Code A120, PO Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033.
