Nancy J. Sowers Homer, 84, of Palmyra, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020, in the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Born in Harrisburg on January 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Geraldine Brady Sowers.

Nancy retired as an Administrative Assistant from the Derry Township School District; and was a former switchboard operator for Bell Telephone. She was a graduate of the former John Harris High School. Nancy was a member of Hanoverdale Church of the Brethren. She was a talented artist working with pastels, charcoals and watercolor; enjoyed reading; and especially loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by two brothers, James and William, and two sisters, Frances and Barbara.

Nancy is survived by a daughter, Jodie E. Homer of Palmyra; two sons, David M. Homer husband of Debra of Corning, NY, and Robert M. Homer husband of Cynthia of Palmyra; one brother, Lester Sowers husband of Terri of Turtle Creek; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held in the Mt. Laurel Cemetery, Harrisburg, with her pastor, The Rev. Peter F. Johnson, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support the benevolence fund of her church. Please make checks payable to “Hanoverdale Church of the Brethren”, 577 Hershey Road, Hummelstown, PA 17036, and write “Nancy Homer Memorial” on the memo line.

LeRoy and Paula Wilson

Dave, Debbie and Family, our sincere condolences on the passing of your Mother. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time. Losing a parent is one of the worst events in life to deal with, but at least you have a lot of fun and joyful memories from through the years that you’ll constantly go back to, to help ease the pain. And those memories will never fade!
Love, Lee and Paula

Dave, Rob, and sorry to hear about your Mom. She was like a 2nd Mother to me when Dave and I were growing up, and I'll always have fond memories of her. God Bless you all!
