Kay Carol Youtz MacElwee, 80, of Hummelstown, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019, in the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Harrisburg on September 6, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Russell L. and Miriam M. Burridge Youtz.
Affectionately known as “Miss Kay” to her students, she was working as an aide for Tender Years in Hershey for the past 14 years. Kay retired as a secretary from the former AMP Inc and had worked at the former Brunswick Bowling Ball Company and the former Bowman’s Department Store. She was passionate about her flower garden and enjoyed crocheting.
Kay is survived by her husband of 59 years, Samuel G. MacElwee, whom she married on March 19, 1960; one son, Kent Lowell MacElwee husband of Lori Newman of Los Angeles; two grandchildren, Jeremy Steele Buckley of Wilkesboro, NC, and Jordan Carol Buckley fiancée of Justin Fuhrmeister of Washington, DC; one sister, Carolyn A. Berkebile wife of Roger L. of Hummelstown; one niece, Caryn Borrell wife of Nick of Elizabethtown; a great niece, Caitlyn Borrell of Elizabethtown; her beloved pets, her dog, Miss Molly May, and her cat, Charlie.
A celebration of Kay’s life will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at 11 AM in the Grace United Methodist Church, 433 East Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. John A. Schaefer officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family Tuesday in the church from 10 AM until time of the service.
