Obituary

Helen Reesor Messick, 93, of the Masonic Village, and formerly of Middletown, passed away Monday, August 11, 2020, in the home.

Born in South Annville Township on February 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Hoffer and Fannie Gingrich Reesor.

Helen retired in 1989 after 45 years of service from the Molding Department of the Hershey Chocolate Factory. She was a member of the Swatara Hill Church of the Brethren, Middletown, where she led the Youth Group for many years. Helen was also a member of the Londonderry Senior Citizens and the Farm Women’s Group. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon “Jake” M. Messick, on April 24, 2019; two brothers, Clayton Reesor and Howard Reesor; and two sisters, Esther Engle and Effie Brant.

She is survived by one brother, Elmer Reesor of British Columbia, Canada; one sister, Martha Miller of Lititz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held Monday, August 17, 2020, at 11:00 AM in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Middletown, with Pastor Jason T. Good, her pastor, officiating.

Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Swatara Hill Church of the Brethren, 2943 East Harrisburg Pike, Middletown, PA 17057.
