Emilie E. Cottingham Plecker, 88, of Hummelstown, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, in the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Born in Hummelstown on February 27, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Catherine Lutz Cottingham.

Emilie had worked for the former Town & Country Restaurant and Theo’s Foods, Inc. both of Hummelstown. She was a 1949 graduate of the former Hummelstown High School. Emilie was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 265, Hummelstown. She enjoyed playing Bingo, and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Most important of all, Emilie was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Emilie was preceded in death by her husband, James Ivan Plecker on January 14, 1994; a daughter, Catherine Ann Plecker on December 21, 1960; four brothers, William Cottingham, Richard Cottingham, Francis Cottingham, and Robert Cottingham; and a sister, Evelyn R. Gonse.

Emilie is survived by two sons, Dennis L. Plecker and James M. Plecker both of Hummelstown; a daughter, Patricia L. Booth wife of Rusty of Hummelstown; three grandchildren, Matthew T. Plecker and Tyler James Garrett both of Hummelstown, and Sarah E. Plecker of Hummelstown; one great grandson, Blake Michael Plecker of Hershey; a brother, Ronald G. Cottingham husband of Karen of Carlisle; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. David W. DiRaddo, pastor of Remnant Life Church, Mechanicsburg, officiating. Interment will be in Fishburn Cemetery, Hershey. Viewings will be in the funeral home Tuesday, January 28, 2020, from 6 to 8 PM and again on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc., East Shore Shelter, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
