Elmer Ellsworth Stoe, Jr., age 84, of 847 Round Top Road, Middletown, died on Sunday, October 13, 2019 after 16 years of multiple myeloma.

Elmer was born on January 4, 1935, to Vivian Chillas Vosburg and Elmer E. Stoe of Lancaster. Elmer lost his sons, Raymond T. Stoe and Ronald J. Stoe, grandson, Christopher J. Stoe, and first wife, Nancy Fisher Stoe to Huntington’s disease.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Linda Brunner Stoe, son, David A Stoe of Toronto; daughters-in-law, Malinda Almoney and husband David of Grantville, and Daniela Tingler and husband Bert of Middletown; an honorary son, Daniel Angelo and his wife Anna of Middletown; three grandchildren, Danielle Stoe of Grantville, Peter Stoe of Palmyra, and Anakyn Tingler of Middletown; his sister Jacqueline McCune and husband Robert of Lancaster; and his brother, Gary Stoe and wife Mary of Tuscan, Arizona.

A graduate of McCaskey High School, (Class of 1953), Elmer worked at Armstrong Industries and retired after 32 years at Fort Indiantown Gap as Utilities Foreman. Elmer was a U.S. Navy veteran of four years.

In his free time, Elmer served in various positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved trees, gardening, farm animals, building houses and his koi ponds. He enjoyed the simple things in life and loved his family and grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Monday, October 21, 2019, at 11 AM at the Hershey Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4788 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg. Interment with military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 2 PM. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 10 AM until the service.

Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
