Obituary for Diane B. Baten (Breckenmaker)

Diane Breckenmaker Baten, 74, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Carolyn’s House, Linglestown.
Born in Harrisburg on November 17, 1945, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Ruth Miller Breckenmaker.

Diane retired from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency and from Nationwide Insurance. She had also worked at the former Rhoads Pharmacy & Gift Shop, White Shield Pharmacy and Rite Aid. Diane was a 1963 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Diane was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening, traveling and trying new restaurants.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Baten, Jr., a son, John Matthew Baten, and a sister, Frances B. Leonard.

She is survived by a son, Jeffrey D. Baten of Middletown; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Diane’s life will be held Friday, December 27, 2019, at 11 AM in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Lois K. Van Orden, her pastor, officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church Friday from 10 AM until time of the service.

Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff of Andrews & Patel for the wonderful care given to Diane and support provided to them over the past three years.
