Dave owned the former Rhoads Hallmark & Gift Shop in Mechanicsburg for 10 years, and worked at Rhoads Pharmacy & Gift Shop in Hummelstown. He was a 1978 graduate of Central Dauphin East High School. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Dawn M. Hollenbach Lutz, whom he married on December 4, 1999; two brothers, Dean Lutz, husband of Cindy of Hummelstown, and The Rev. John Lutz, husband of Shawn of Greer, SC.; two sisters, Jeanne Jordan, wife of Doug of San Diego, CA, and Kathryn Donato, wife of Allan of Harrisburg; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at 11 AM at the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. John P. Lutz, his brother, officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday in the funeral home from 10 AM until time of the service.

My condolences to all of Dave's family. I remember him as a good basketball player when I taught and coached at Swatara Junior High School. More importantly, Dave was a young gentleman. I ran into him a few times many years ago when picking up a prescription in Hummelstown. He always had a smile and a few minutes of conversation. I am sorry that he suffered a devastating illness. He is at peace now. May you have many fond memories of him. My prayers go out for Dave and all of you.
