Darlene K. “Darl” Dimpsey Christofes, 83, of Hummelstown, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Hummelstown on June 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Darwin W., Sr., and Kathryn Maye Fasnacht Dimpsey.
Darl retired as a Cosmetologist after working 39 years at the former Taika Beauty Salon and 8 years at the former Plaza Beauty Salon, both of Hummelstown. Darl was a 1954 graduate of the former Hummelstown High School; and graduate of the former Kendall Empire Beauty School where she later served as an Instructor of Cosmetology. She was an over 50-year member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown. To say Darl loved her town of Hummelstown was an understatement. She gave back to her community wholeheartedly by volunteering with Meals on Wheels; being a life member and former Board member of the Hummelstown Area Historical Society; serving on the Board of the Hummelstown All Class Reunion Committee; and being a member of the Soda Jerk Breakfast Club. Darl enjoyed Lower Dauphin sports and participation in the Booster Clubs; as well as swimming and traveling.
Darl was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 57 years, Thomas Christofes, on February 23, 2013; a grandson, Mathis Christofes; brother, Darwin W. “Po rk” Dimpsey, Jr.; and sister, Joyce Atanasoff.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Christofes, Jr. husband of Tracy Kling Christofes of Hummelstown, and Eryc Christofes husband of Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Crimmel Christofes of Grantville; one daughter, Apryl Howard wife of Brian of Magnolia, DE; four grandchildren, Tara Love Christofes Bell wife of Gareth of Japan, Alexandrya Walborn wife of John of Harrisburg, Demetrius Christofes of Hummelstown, and Dustyn Michael Christofes of Philadelphia; three great grandchildren, Izabella Walborn, Zoe Walborn, and Harrison Walborn, all of Harrisburg; one brother, Jack D. Dimpsey husband of Carolyn of Hummelstown; one sister, Jill R. Dimpsey wife of Cindy Baldwin of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at 11 AM in the Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Robert J. Kazinski, her pastor, and The Rev. Jody Silliker, Pastor Emerita of Christ Lutheran Church, Harrisburg, officiating. Interment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery. Friends are invited to the viewings Tuesday, August 6, 2019, from 6 to 8 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, and Wednesday in the church’s narthex from 10 AM until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036; or to the Hummelstown Historical Society, 32 West Main Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036; or to Christ Lutheran Church, 124 South 13th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17104.
The family would like to extend a heartful thank you to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania and the Visiting Angels of Hershey for the tender care of Darl.

I miss you like crazy. Our weekly Sunday call or visit was yesterday and I did not hear your voice or see your smiling face and i felt such a sadness I didn't know what to do. I love you Mom.

I was so lucky to enjoy a long visit with Darl before I left for vacation. She was funny and alert and positive and I looked forward to visiting her this week when I returned. I am heartbroken that Darl is gone so soon but know she is with our beloved Chris. My prayers and love go out to Jill, Apryl, Eryc, and Tom, and their families. I thank you for sharing your parents with me just a little. They were both truly wonderful people. Rest in heavenly peace, Darl. I love and miss you.
