Charles W. Connahan, 88, of Swatara Township, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2019.

He was born in Coaldale, PA, on September 13, 1931, to the late Charles B. and Rhea (Keithline) Connahan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Kramer and Evelyn Boyer. He graduated from the former Coaldale High School and was employed as a design engineer for various civil engineering firms in the Harrisburg area. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War as a combat engineer instructor at the Army Engineer School in Fort Belvoir, VA, and at the 7th Army Headquarters, Germany.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lois (Snyder) Connahan, and his children, Holly Martz (Rick) and Charles Connahan (Marla). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Joshua Martz, Ashley Beccone (Anthony), Laura Connahan (fiancé Kerry Lewis), and Shane Connahan.

He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1213 and American Legion Post 998. Charlie was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Rutherford, serving as trustee and usher.

He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them at family gatherings and attending sporting events together.

Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Penn State football, as well as, the Eagles, Patriots, and Orioles. He loved touring the United States and Canada, and cruising with his wife.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Visitation will be Thursday in the funeral home from 10 AM until time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charlie’s memory to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, 733 Third Avenue, Suite 510, New York, NY 10017.
