Barbara A. Baker Henkenberns Hoffer, 86, of Harrisburg, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle.

Born in Harrisburg on January 4, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Adrian Baker and Helene Knuth Baker Hines.

Barbara retired from the Department of Revenue in 1980. After retiring, she opened her own bakery, Barbara’s Creative Cakes.

She attended both William Penn High School, and John Harris High School, graduating from John Harris.

Barbara truly had a passion for life. She was a gifted artist, belonging to multiple art associations. Barbara had a love for painting landscapes using oil paints. Aside from creating beautiful works of art, she was a brilliant cake decorator and baker. She also enjoyed music and dancing.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Russell L. Hoffer on February 28, 2015; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Gaudio.

Barbara is survived by her children, Maureen A. Brouse, husband Stewart of Mechanicsburg, Jeffrey M. Hoffer and Kevin P. Hoffer both of Linglestown; three grandchildren, Laura Herman, husband Jeff, Melissa Brouse, and Jonathan Brouse; 1 great-grandchild, Addisyn; two sisters, Mary Gaudio of Harrisburg, and Carol Baker of Delmont; and her beloved dog, Toby.

A private family inurnment will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033.
