Wayne W. Nye, 80, of Duncannon and formerly of Hummelstown, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011, at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born on April 27, 1930, in Derry Twp., he was the son of the late Elmer T. and Minnie A. Garrett Nye.
Wayne retired as a shipping clerk from the former Hestico Dress Factory, and also worked for the former Press Dress. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Duncannon. Wayne loved to hunt and fish, and belonged to the Duncannon Sportsmen’s Association. He also loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandson.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley A. Hoffman Nye, whom he married on March 10, 1956; one daughter, Yvonne L. Nye at home; one son, Michael W. Nye husband of Lynne L. of Newport; and one grandson, Michael Paul Nye at home.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his two sisters, Phoebe E. Earnest on November 3, 1989; and Dorothy I. Carney on November 28, 2008.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011, at 2 PM in the United Church of Christ, 212 High Street, Duncannon, with the Rev. George C. Martz, his pastor, officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the church from 1 PM until time of the services.
