Obituary for Catherine V. Zimmerman (Givler)
Catherine V. Givler Zimmerman, 94, of the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, and formerly of Hummelstown, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010, in the home.
Born on August 21, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Mary Pacey Givler. Catherine retired as a secretary from the former Verdelli Farms. Catherine was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown, for more than 60 years and taught Sunday School for many of those years. She loved spending time with her family and playing Pinochle.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Claud E. Zimmerman; a son, Harold “Red” Zimmerman; and a grandson, Douglas Zimmerman.
She is survived by one son, Barry Zimmerman (Donna); a daughter-in-law, Linda Zimmerman; five grandchildren, Ron Zimmerman, Wendy Harkins (Craig), Denise Miller (Monty), Mark Zimmerman (Maureen Bensinger), and Susan Charles (Lee); 7 great-grandchildren, Zane Miller, Johnathan Zimmerman, Shannan Harkins, Stephanie Miller, Payton Miller, Brandon Harkins, and Anthony Zimmerman; a sister-in-law, Mary Givler; a niece, Barbara McGarvey (Fred); and many other nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, October 28, 2010, at 12 noon in Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Ellen J. Evans, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Middletown Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the church on Thursday from 10:30 AM until time of the services.
