Barbara A. Newmyer, 67, of Hummelstown passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009, in the Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Fisherville on December 4, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys Marie Ebersole Hoy.
Barbara was a devoted homemaker. She was a member of the York County Racing Club and a NASCAR fan. Barbara’s favorite place to visit was the beach; but her greatest joy and love was spending time with her granddaughter and attending her sporting events.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 49 years, Harvey J. Newmyer, whom she married on May 29, 1960; one daughter, Lisa A. Brown wife of Jeffrey J. of Palmyra; one son, Christopher H. Newmyer of New York City, NY: one granddaughter, Megan E. Brown of Palmyra; two sisters, Nancy Wotring wife of Woody of Rutherford, and Carole Bowers wife of Charles of San Antonio, TX; and one brother, Donald Rickert of Rutherford.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. George M. Minick, pastor of St. Paul Evangelical Church, Hummelstown, officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township. Friends are invited to the viewings at the funeral home Friday, November 27, 2009, from 6 to 8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM until time of the service.
