John W. Alleman, Sr., 91, of Hummelstown, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018. Born in South Hanover Township on September 26, 1926, he was the son of the late Margaret Bonawitz and Nelson Alleman.
John retired after 45 years as a supervisor for the milk receiving department for Hershey Chocolate Company. John was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II and at Normandy. He was a former member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown. John was a lifelong member of Silver Star hunting camp in Clinton County, which his father founded, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Mae Graybill Alleman, whom he married on June 22, 1946; one daughter, Nancy Adams of Linglestown; one son, Roger Alleman husband of April of Palmyra; six grandchildren, William Adams husband of Lindsey, Robert Adams husband of Ali, Aimee Adams, Michael Hyssong, Todd Epler husband of Joy, and Jon Palmer husband of Darla; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son John W. Alleman, Jr., four brothers, and a sister.
A graveside service and interment with military honors will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 2:30pm at Grand View Memorial Park 500 North Weber Street, Annville.
