Paul W. Day
Paul W. Day, 86, of Colonial Park, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 9, 2017, surrounded by his loving family after a sudden but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Steelton on September 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Peter and Margaret Yetter Day.
Paul retired from the Hershey Chocolate Company, where he worked in every department over the years, and was a longtime member of the Chocolate Worker’s Local 464. He was a faithful member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Alacoque Church, Harrisburg, for over 55 years. Paul was an US Army veteran and reservist having served during the Korean War. He was a 45 year member of the American Legion Post 272, Linglestown, and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge. Paul enjoyed Penn State football, Phillies baseball, retirement in Florida, going to the casino, playing Bingo, traveling, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Mahek Day on November 4, 2013; and siblings, Alden, Peter, Charles, George, Hilda, Mary and Edith.
He is survived by his son, Philip W. Day (Jeff Buehler) of Harrisburg; two daughters, Kimberli A. Petrich and Susan M. Day both of Harrisburg; two brothers, Robert of Louisiana and Br. Joseph of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Michael W. (Miranda), Brandon W., and Stefani A.; four great grandchildren, Caden, Sofia, Lukas, and Malena; sister-in-law, Ruth Billow (Carl), and brother-in-law, Jack Buglia both of Hershey; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 11:30 AM in St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg, with The Rev. Fr. Paul C. Helwig, as celebrant. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends will be received for a viewing in the church on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until time of the services.

The family would like to express their gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to all Paul’s doctors, especially Dr. Rodney Jamil, his favorite doctor, nurses, and caregivers involved in his treatment and care, and to the staff of Hospice of Central PA.
