Paul E. Finney, 81, of Palmyra, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017, in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Harrisburg on November 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Elmer S. and Esther L. Connor Finney.
Paul retired from BSC Litho after 41 years, and worked in utilities at Hershey Park for 15 years after his retirement. He was a 1953 graduate of the former John Harris High School. A proud US Marines Corp veteran, Paul served during the Korean Era. He loved the outdoors and sports. Paul could always be found tending to things in his home and yard; he also enjoyed baking and trains. Other than the Marines and baseball, most important to Paul was his family.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen F. McKee Finney, whom he married on April 8, 1961; two daughters, Melanie A. Hoover wife of Jeff of Harrisburg and Jill R. Funck wife of Rick of Palmyra; a son, David P. Finney husband of Karen of Palmyra; a sister, Patricia Cobaugh of Palmyra; six grandchildren, Bethany Oleyniczak wife of Chris, Cody Hoover, Kelly Shuey wife of Alex, Wyatt Hoover, Casey Funck and Shay Funck; and a great granddaughter, Lily Grace Oleyniczak.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his siblings, George, Irene, and Richard.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 11:30 AM in the Union Deposit United Methodist Church, 34 West Main Street in the village of Union Deposit, with The Rev. Peter J. Raser, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends and relatives are invited to the viewing in the church Tuesday from 10:30 AM until time of the service.
