John Nelson Shelenbarger, 95, of Linden and formerly of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at his home.
Born in Harrisburg on August 27, 1921, he was the son of the late William R. and Mabel K. Clemm Shelenbarger.

Army veteran of World War II who was awarded two Bronze stars for his service while stationed in Hawaii during the Pearl Harbor bombing attack by the Japanese. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 420, Steelton. John enjoyed painting pictures; and was proud of creating a picture of an American flag out of coins.
John is survived by a daughter, Peggy Ann Bechtel of California; three sisters, Delphine M. Etnoyer wife of William, E. Jane Beinhauor, and Charlotte I. Hanincik all of Harrisburg; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
