Aurelia Waters (Bell)
Aurelia Bell Waters, 93, of Philadelphia, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017, at home in Harrisburg.
Born in Philadelphia, on June 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Peyton and Emily Wilson Bell.
Aurelia was a dedicated teacher who taught Social Studies at the Julia R. Masterman School in Philadelphia. She had received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from St. Joseph College, a Library Science Degree from Drexel University, and a Master’s in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Aurelia was a member of St. Thomas African American Episcopal Church, Philadelphia, having proudly written a lengthy history of the church. She was also a member of The Order of the Daughters of the King. Aurelia’s caring nature, wisdom, and guidance will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Aurelia is survived by her daughter, Renee A. Jones of Harrisburg; granddaughter, Amanda Jones Sprankle wife of Robert of Port Matilda; grandson, Micah C. Jones husband of Tiffany N. of Delran, NJ; and two great granddaughters, Layla M. Jones and Morgan C. Jones both of Delran.
In addition to her parents, Aurelia was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian B. Scott and Alberta B. Coulbourne.
A service to celebrate Aurelia’s life will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017, at 11 AM in the Chapel at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, 225 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd. Friends are invited to greet the family in the chapel from 10:30 AM until time of the services.
