Obituary for Elizabeth K. Ricker (Knackstedt)

Elizabeth Knackstedt Ricker, 86 of Hummelstown, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017, in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center with her family by her side.
Born in Lower Paxton Township on March 5, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edward L. Knackstedt, Sr. and Ethel Alleman Knackstedt.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a 1949 graduate of the former Lower Paxton High School where she was a star basketball player. Elizabeth was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hoernerstown. Her passion was flower gardening, but her greatest joy and pride in life came from caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Nathaniel Ricker, whom she married on December 31, 1949; three daughters, Elizabeth Susan Ricker wife of Thomas H. Lingenfelter of Annville, JoAnn R. Weber wife of G. Thomas Weber of Hummelstown, and Michelle K. Leaser wife of Mark of Coronado, CA; three sons, N. Steven Ricker husband of Deborah A. of Palmyra, M. Kevin Ricker fiancé of Jill Brown of Lower Paxton Township, and Douglas G. Ricker husband of Christine L. of Hershey; one brother, Glenn Knackstedt husband of Carol of Hershey; one sister, Sylvania Merlo wife of David of Palmyra; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by four brothers, Michael Knackstedt, Fred Knackstedt, Henry Knackstedt, and Edward L. Knackstedt, Jr.; and three sisters, Ruth Hackman, Judy Shank, and Joan Mumma.
A service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held Friday, May 5, 2017, at 4:30 PM in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 158 South Hoernerstown Road, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Martha S. Boyd, her pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family Friday at the church from 3:30 PM until time of the service.
Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 158 South Hoernerstown Road, Hummelstown, PA 17036.
