Obituary of Vicki L. Seiders Gesford
Vicki L. Seiders Gesford, beloved wife, daughter, mother and ‘Gigi’, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the age of 54 after a valiant cancer battle. The eternal optimist, she is survived by her husband, Michael, sons Michael (Jackie), Zachary, and Noah and grandsons, Cole and Cael.
Vicki was born on September 27, 1962 in Harrisburg to Maryann Radanovic Seiders of Chambers Hill and the late Marlin Seiders. In addition to her mother, Vicki is also survived by her two sisters, Valerie Johnson (Rick) and Marlene Seiders.
Since 2000, Vicki was a dedicated team member at Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) serving as Senior Executive Administrative Assistant for the President and CEO. In this role, she also supported the Chairman of the Board and Board of Directors. Her goal was to work for a President and CEO of a notable, regional company and she proudly achieved that goal at HE&R. Her most recent position with HE&R was Community Relations Coordinator. Prior to joining HE&R, Vicki was Administrative Assistant to the Senior Vice President, Policy & Regulatory Services at The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania. Vicki was a firm believer that you dressed for the position you wanted – and she did – always looking the part.
Vicki was a 1980 graduate of Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg, PA, where she was a Shorthand/Secretarial Science major in the Business curriculum. Vicki held the designation Certified Administrative Professional – Organizational Management (CAP-OM), and was an active member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), a volunteer organization that ensures individuals working in office and administrative professions have opportunities to connect, learn, lead and excel, and made it her own. Following years of successful collaboration with the Harrisburg Chapter, Vicki recognized a need to help serve her colleagues closer to home and spent countless hours starting the Hershey Chapter. In her role as the chapter’s first president, Vicki continually identified ways to strengthen membership and generate new ideas for engagement while keeping the group active and relevant. She won Member Recruiter of the Year in 2013 for getting and retaining the most members at a chapter level. Vicki was active at the statewide level, chairing the Pennsylvania Division Administrative Professionals Week Committee. Vicki was a dual member of the Virtual International Professionals (VIP) Chapter of IAAP; a chapter that exists only in cyber-space, holding monthly webinars and meetings. Vicki’s passion and commitment to professional growth and leadership development was evident in her deep involvement with IAAP. She credits her membership with providing her the tools she needed to advance her administrative career over the past 18 years. Vicki was instrumental in starting an affinity group within HE&R of the Executive Administrative Assistants. Vicki was the recipient of the YWCA’s 2014 Tribute to Women of Excellence Award, an award honoring outstanding women in the Capital Region who devote time and energy to make the organizations with which they are affiliated better places to work and live. Vicki got things done - that’s just who she was.
Vicki also served on the Board of Directors at The Hershey Partnership - Hershey PA Chamber of Commerce, Committee Member, Hershey Community Garden and a member, Boston College Center For Corporate Citizenship. She was involved with Dress for Success South Central Pennsylvania, Junior Achievement of South Central PA, Milton Hershey School’s Career Day and various Children’s Miracle Network events at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Vicki’s greatest joy was her family. She served as a parent volunteer at her sons’ school and athletic events, and with the Hershey Wrestling Booster Club and Hershey Football Family.
A celebration of Vicki’s life will be held Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Jennifer H. Williams, of CrossPoint Church, officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM and again on Thursday from 10 AM until time of the services.
