CW4 David R. Logan
CW4 David “Dave” R. Logan, of West Hanover Township, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016, at the age of 80 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Harrisburg on September 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Chris and Mary Zerance Logan. He graduated from John Harris High School with the Class of 1953.
Dave is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia A. Martin Logan; daughter, Kimberly A. Nash (Gregory G.) of Hummelstown; son, David R. Logan Jr, (fiancée Angel L. Quigley); four grandchildren, Alysha Clark (Justin), Allison Brubaker, Zachary Logan, and Christian Logan; a great granddaughter, Evelyn Phillips; two step grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.
Dave was in the competitive shooting program since 10 years of age. During his early years Dave shot with the Junior League, and the late Ammon Bell of Hummelstown was his Mentor. He joined the Pennsylvania National Guard in 1954, shot competitively with the Rifle Team, and later was selected to the
All National Guard Rifle Team. Dave retired from the National Guard in 1995.
He was the proprietor of Dave Logan’s Muzzleloading Shop, West Hanover Township, and the former Dave Logan’s Service Station, Harrisburg.
Dave was a life member of the National Guard Retired Shooters Association, the NRA, Harrisburg Hunters’ & Anglers’, Carlisle Fish & Game Club, Duck’s Unlimited, Kentucky Colonels, Turkey Buzzards of Central PA, Perseverance Lodge #21, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Zembo Shrine, Royal & Select Master Masons, Harrisburg Council #7, and the Pilgrim Commandery #11.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 12:00 noon in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Lois K. Van Orden officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Bowser Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. Friends will be received for the viewing Saturday in the church’s parlor from 10:45 to 11:45 AM. A Masonic service will be held Saturday at 11:45 AM in the parlor.
