Obituary for Leon Via Jr.

Leon Via Jr.
Leon Christian Via, Jr., 85, of Hummelstown passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 7:35 pm.
Leon was born in Conewago Township, Dauphin County, PA, on May 26, 1931. He was the son of the late Leon C. Via, Sr., and Ella Mae (Heisey) Via.
Leon began working in the Via brothers family business making cinder blocks with his father and uncle. He graduated from Hershey High School Class of 1949. After graduation, Leon enlisted in the United States Air Force, and then worked at Olmsted Air Force Base in Middletown, PA. He worked various jobs, but his pride and joy was the creation of Surf Pools Inc. – a pool company he began in 1976 and operated for 30 years with his long-time partner in business, life, and love, Mary Ann Bittinger.
Leon enjoyed working, hunting, traveling, bowling, playing softball, boating, skiing, snowmobiling, fixing things, golfing, eating out, and spending time with his Hershey High School classmates. He was a hard worker, dedicated businessman, and generous friend to many people in the surrounding area.
Leon is survived by his long-time partner, Mary Ann Bittinger; daughter, Victoria L. Lutz and her husband Daniel Hogg of Hummelstown, PA; sons, Leon C. Via III and his wife Rosemary of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Jeffrey S. Via and his wife Christine of Landisville. He has seven grandchildren who are Randy Lutz and wife Laura, Ryan Lutz and wife Carla, Chad Lutz and wife Kyra, Noelle Via Borda and husband Dane, Jeffrey Via, Sarah Via, and Erin Via. He also has seven great grandchildren. His wife, Harriet Louise (Bricker) Via preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with his son, The Rev. Dr. Leon C. Via, III, officiating. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. Family and friends are invited to the viewing Wednesday in the funeral home from 10 AM until time of the service.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the “Via Family Reunion”, 400 West Hoover Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
