Bishop Larry A. Harris, 56, of Hummelstown, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 26, 2016, in the Mt. Carmel Hospital East, Columbus, OH.
Born in Atlanta, GA, on May 6, 1960, he was the son of Shirley Spear Harris of Palmetto, GA and the late Jerry Harris.
Bishop Harris has been the pastor of Bridge of Faith International Ministries, Harrisburg, since its inception in 1999. He was also a decorated veteran having retired from the United States Army, where he served during the Persian Gulf War and received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland. Bishop Harris was a graduate of Newnan High School, Newnan, GA, and also continued his education after his military service graduating from the Next Dimension School of Theology with his Doctorate Degree in Theology. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts. Most precious to him was spending time with his family, and spreading his love of God to his community. Bishop Harris has written several books, interviewed by numerous outlets, and preached in churches across the globe.
In addition to his mother, Bishop Harris is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Prophetess Sheila D. Brown Harris, whom he married on July 18, 1986; two daughters, Brittnie M. Harris and Nicole K. Harris; two sons, Larry A. Harris, Jr. and Justin R. Harris, all of Hummelstown; a sister, Sandra Strickland wife of Rayford of Palmetto, GA; two nephews, Ron and Raphael Strickland of Palmetto, GA; four aunts Iona Walker of Atlanta, GA, and Joann McKenzie wife of Eral of Fort Valley, GA, and Eddie-Lee Price wife of Kenneth of Sonia, GA, and Jewell Brown of Atlanta, GA; his mother in law, Olliam Williams of Augusta, GA; and two sisters in law, Tammy Boller wife of Kenny of Savannah, GA, and Cathy Brown of Augusta, GA; two nieces, Tamika Boler of Germany, and Megan Bellamy wife of Jay of Mexico; and a host of relatives.
A Celebration of Bishop Harris’s life will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 10:30 AM in the Bridge of Faith International Ministries, 4425 Chambers Hill Road, Harrisburg. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A time of reflection and greeting the family will be held Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church.
