Douglas W. “Walla” Pollock, 64, of Camp Hill, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in the PinnacleHealth West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg.
Born in Cumberland County on May 29, 1951, he was the son of the late S. Wilson and Grace Milliman Pollock. Doug was a 1969 graduate of Camp Hill High School and a 1973 graduate of Penn State University where he was a member of the varsity tennis team. After graduating from college Doug became a tennis pro and then worked as a successful independent investment advisor. Perched above the field in his trusty lawn chair, he never missed any of his daughters’ games (nor an opportunity to offer a supportive “ready position” reminder). While life sometimes found Doug in the rough, on the golf course he always played from the middle of the fairway. After an early-morning round, he enjoyed nothing more than relaxing with a cold beer (or two) while cooking one of his specialties. A win from his beloved Nittany Lions or New York Yankees made the day a true bed of roses. Doug was also an avid traveler, always keeping his daughters informed of the action in his current locale.
He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, as well as four grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by a daughter.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
