Obituary for Helen Janet Dugan (Hare)

Helen J. Hare Dugan, 93, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg.
Born in Butler on October 26, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Lucille G. Hobaugh Hare.
Helen retired as a clerk in the Auditing Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Health & Welfare. She was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Harrisburg, and was an active member of the former Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, Harrisburg. Helen was a 1940 graduate of Indiana High School. She was a compassionate person who dedicated over 20 years of her life volunteering at Holy Spirit Hospital. Helen was an avid reader; enjoyed playing cards and flower gardening; and loved to do needlework and sewing for others. She will be dearly missed.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Dugan, on March 26, 1967; and two brothers, Harry F. Hare and Thomas H. Hare.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna L. Lee wife of Edward F. of Harrisburg; one son, William G. Dugan, Jr. husband of Shirley A. of Mechanicsburg; one grandson, Jonathan E. Lee husband of Heather M. of Harrisburg; two great grandsons, Zachary M. Lee and Jackson E. Lee both of Harrisburg; and one sister, Anna M. Megargel of Riverside.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 11:30 AM in St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Londonderry Road, Harrisburg, with The Rev. James E. Person, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. Friends are invited to visit with the family Thursday in the church parlor from 10:30 AM until time of the service.
Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Londonderry Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
