Mary Johnson (Wanner)
Mary Ellen Wanner Johnson, 62, of Newville, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014, in the Holy Spirit Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was the daughter of the late Donald A. and Ellen A. Brenner Wanner Tetzloff.
Mary was a stay at home wife, mother, and grandmother to every little one she came in contact with. She was a member of Penn Township Fire Hall. Mary loved her family especially camping with the grandkids and taking them to town fairs. She was an avid bingo player on Friday nights at Penn Township and Sunday nights at Citizens Fire Hall in Boiling Springs. Mary also enjoyed being a Team Parent for her grandson’s T-ball team at Newville Little League.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Julia Wertz, and three brothers, Harvey Wanner, Harry Wanner, and Larry Wanner.
Mary is survived by her husband of 23 years, Robert C. Johnson; two daughters, Ellen (Ellie) Paulus wife of Bill, and Jamie Haldeman both of Carlisle; one son, Scott Johnson of New Cumberland; ten grandkids, Doug Bechtel, Heather Bechtel, Mike Bechtel, Greg Maes, Dustin Wheeler, Cody Wheeler, Billy Paulus, Matthew Paulus, Shelby Paulus, and Christian Johnson; eight great grandchildren, Lexi Behrens, Taylor Bechtel, Justin Bechtel, Rocco Bechtel, Neveah Bechtel, Jakyla Behrens, Josh Kaufman, and Maison Atticks; two brothers, Stan Wanner husband of Alice of Hummelstown, and Lonny L. Wanner of Middletown; one sister, Jenny E. Corrigan wife of William of Palmyra; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 3 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Dr. Ronald J. Oelrich, pastor of Faith United Church of Christ, York, officiating. A private inurnment will be held in the Middletown Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday in the funeral home from 2 PM until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions made to the American Heart/Stroke Association, Capital Region, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043; or to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
