William U. Houseworth, 91, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pottsville.
Born in Erie on November 15, 1925, he was the son of the late William G. and Mary B. Ulrich Houseworth.
Bill retired from Harrisburg Steel, where he was a machinist, and was also employed by Bethlehem Steel. He was a 1943 graduate of the former Hummelstown High School. Bill was an US Navy veteran having served during World War II. His greatest passion was being outdoors, he loved to hunt, fish, and hike; he also enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret G. Houseworth, on June 21, 2015.
He is survived by a son, David W. Houseworth of New Cumberland; two grandsons, Jacob Savage husband of Abbie and Kevin Pheuer; and great grandson, Abel Savage.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday in the funeral home from 10 AM until time of the service.
