Obituary for Shirley Bernice Nye (La Rose)

Shirley La Rose Nye, 94, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013. Over the years she visited frequently with her husband's family in Hummelstown.
Born in Bethlehem on September 23, 1918, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Florence Anderson La Rose.
Shirley worked for E, J and E Railroad before World War II and later was a librarian at Bethlehem Public Library, retiring in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H. John Nye, an engineer for Bethlehem Steel Company, in 1970.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Nye-Grindey, of Phoenix, AZ, and Marjorie Nye Simpers of Vienna, WV, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A viewing was held in Phoenix, later followed by a viewing and graveside service on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11 AM in the Union Deposit Cemetery, South Hanover Township.
Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, handled the services in PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
