Obituary for Alice Carlton
Alice A. Tesno Carlton, 81, of Hummelstown, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Maury on August 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Roy L. and Mae Rachael Alvord Tesno.
Alice was a homemaker, devoting her life to her two daughters. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hummelstown. Alice was a member and past President of the Sgt. Chauncy F. Yingst VFW Ladies Auxiliary Unit 1687, Hummelstown, and a Guard within VFW District 19, Department of Pennsylvania. She was also a member of the former Hummelstown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She loved baking, playing Bingo and Pinochle; and was kind and helpful towards everyone she knew.
Alice is survived by two daughters, Judy L. McCord of Hershey, and Barbara A. Carlton of Hummelstown; a grandson, Duane M. McCord of Elizabethtown; a sister, Grace M. Helm of Carlisle; and her two great nephews whom she helped raise, Brett M. Still serving in the Air Force, and Rodney K. Still, Jr.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Stine, Evelyn Still, Anna Kotch, and Gladys Wywadis; and four brothers, Alfred Tesno, Charles Tesno, Franklin Tesno, and Earl Tesno.
A memorial service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 11:15 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Timothy D. George, Chaplain of Horizon’s Hospice, officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 AM until the time of the services. A VFW Ladies Auxiliary Ritual will be held Saturday in the funeral home at 11 AM.
