Louise Oyler (Hoffer)
Louise Hoffer Oyler, 82, of Lemoyne and formerly of Harrisburg and Hummelstown, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born in South Hanover Township on October 1, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Anna M. Berrier Hoffer.
Louise retired as a bookkeeper for Brownstone Real Estate. She was also previously employed as a bookkeeper for the former Hummelstown and Hershey National Banks. Louise was a 1949 graduate of the former Hummelstown High School. She was the co-owner of the former Oyler Taxi Service in Hummelstown. Louise was a longtime former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown; where she had been an organist. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and crafts; loved cardinals and playing both the piano and organ.
Louise is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Donald R. Oyler, whom she married on September 2, 1950; a son, Danny R. Oyler of Cleona; two daughters, Tammy L. Poffenberger (Greg) of Camp Hill, and Cindy J. Oyler; five grandchildren, Christopher Hyde (Lauren), Jason Weller, Cody Weller (Nichole), Janna Poffenberger, and Devan Walker (Chris); and four great grandchildren, Ellie, Annie, Christian and Vivienne.
In addition to her parents, Louise was also preceded in death by her brother, Jay G. Hoffer.
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 20, 2013, at 7 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Inurnment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received for a visitation in the funeral home on Monday from 6 PM until time of the services.
